Mould prevention

High humidity can cause mould to proliferate in your homes. Mold can cause illness and allergies.

Dust Mites

These arachnids (related to spiders) are the leading cause of allergies and asthma. They are microscopic and feast on the dead dander from humans and animals. Dust mites do not bite but they shed exoskeleton and droppings which can cause allergies for some people. Dust mites requires a RH of above 60-65% for breeding. The best way to prevent dust mites is to control the humidity of your homes.

Silverfish / Book Lice

Another indicator of high humidity in your homes are the presence of silverfish and book lice. Silverfish favours carbohydrates such as sugar, glue on books, paper and some fabrics. Book lice eats microscopic mould found on walls and books. Presence of booklice and silverfish does indicate the humidity of your home are high and should be lowered.

Musty Odor

Musty odor indicates that mould has already started to grow even if you can't see it with your naked eyes. The musty odour is emitted as a volatile organic compound by mould growth. When musty odor is detected, it is important to control the humidity as soon as possible to prevent more mould growth.

Food Storage

High humidity has several effects on various food such as pasta, coffee, beans sugar and rice. The food can degrades, gets mouldy quickly and/or be infested with insects such as silverfish
